Overcoming trauma does not mean remembering the events of the past and working through it all – so how should we heal?

This is Part Two of my conversation with psychologist Romy Kunitz, “Relationship difficulties, adjustment disorder and repetition compulsion”

Healing does not mean remembering to work through it all, because sometimes this is not the best action to take – it can even traumatise us further. If we want to get to place where we have adjusted to a more healthy lifestyle, we must listen to what we need. 

We should focus on is exercises to ground ourselves in the present moment, and recognise when we tend to things that are not good for us or self-destructive. what’s important is to be able to do grounding exercises to ground ourselves in the, in the present moment and you know, to recognize when we tend to do things that are maybe self-destructive, not good for. When we acknowledge and we recognise our behaviours, it gives us a lot of answers moving forward.
